What is MILSTRIP?

The Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedure (MILSTRIP) system is required by all the Armed Services for requisitioning from supply distribution systems. 

This course, offered by LOGISTICS TECHNOLOGY (LOGTECH), provides hands-on and in-depth knowledge of the MILSTRIP system as it relates to your activity. Students will learn how to prepare the necessary documents, interpret supply source responses and use the system to your operation's best advantage.

Who Should Attend

The course is designed for all personnel, regardless of rank or grade, who work in all phases of supply such as procurement, stock control, inventory management, receiving, finance and accounting, and supply system design.

Course Content

The course covers the following topics:
 

  • Supply systems of the military services, the Defense Logistics Agency and the General Services Administration
     

  • Requisitioning
     

  • Follow-up procedures and guidelines
     

  • Modifications
     

  • Cancellations
     

  • Understanding supply and shipment status
     

  • Material Obligation and Validation Program (MOV)
     

  • Material Returns Program (MRP)
     

Training Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:   

  • Prepare requisitions, follow-ups and cancellations using the MILSTRIP manual
     

  • Modify a previously submitted requisition in accordance with the MILSTRIP system
     

  • Interpret supply and shipment status
     

  • Return excess stock for credit utilizing the Material Returns Program (MRP)
     

  • Respond correctly to the Material Obligation and Validation Program to prevent unnecessary cancellations of back orders

Method of Instruction

The course consists of lectures, classroom discussion, practical exercises and visual aids. Each student will receive an up-to-date manual to keep and use as a reference in conjunction with other hand-out materials.

Course Cost

The basic cost of the course is $4500 for East Coast locations and $5000 for West Coast locations, with an additional cost per student of $50 for either coast. The student cost covers the loose-leaf manual and all handouts. Your activity will pay for just the students who attend so there is no minimum number of students required to put on the course at your location. The basic cost covers the teaching fee, travel, lodging, meals and any other costs associated with the course.

Course Length

The course consists of three days of instruction and the course hours, of course, can be tailored to suit your needs.

Payment

The course can be paid for with a DD Form 1556, a Purchase Order, or a Government credit card.

Note:  This course has been highly successful at many DOD activities and references can be provided if desired.
