James Brolin has to be one of the stupidest assholes to ever walk the face of the Earth
for letting her get away! I am a 13 year old girl. I love Nick at Nite and I wasn't too excited about WKRP
marathon. I saw some commercials in which they introduced the characters. I was
immediatley drawn to Bailey...Jan also. She seemed so...nice. I love those glasses they
give her mystery. Jennifer seemed to be so superficial and fake pretty. Bailey was
genuinly beatiful. While I was watching the show I was very excited about seeing this
"Bailey" woman. I was right from the start. She was just as nice as I thought.
For those of you who don't know this, WKRP comes on at mid-night on Nick at Nite!! Please
any other fans of Jan E-MAIL ME!! I woud love to find an e-mail pal who loves the show
like I do!! Please write!!!!! JAN ROCKS!! Thanks for a great page! I caught quite a bit of the recent marathon on Nick @ Nite,
although I missed "Turkeys Away!" (much to my chagrin). Bailey Quarters had that
wonderful quality of being attainably beautiful. Jennifer was plastic, Bailey was flesh
and blood. Best wishes to Ms. Smithers. Bailey Rules! After spending a somewhat hellish family vacation in The Outer Banks, N.C., with my
family, I will say, "WKRP" saved my life. If it hadn't been for the Nick at Nite
marathon, I would have gone crazy! When I returned home, I immediately started searching
for sites for the wonderful Gary Sandy and came upon your site devoted to Jan. It was
great! I agree that Baily was much prettier than Jennifer! I'm still searching for my Gary
Sandy sites, but I'll be sure and put your site in my favorites folder! I just hope that
Nick will start showing reruns of the show on a regular basis. Now that I've had such a
large fix of WKRP, I can't go back to none at all! Fantastic wesite on probably one of the most talented and beautiful women to star on
TV. Nick at Nite just ran a week's marathon of WKRP's and I am in Hog Heaven ( I couldn't
resist a Les Nessman reference). Great page! I thought I was the only one who thought these great things about her. I

agreement! Beautiful, smart and charming, and a great actress in a wonderful ensemble

airing WKRP, it is my favorite sitcom. I had a huge crush on Jan Smithers/Bailey when the
show was first aired in the late 70's and early 80's. In my opinion Jan Smithers is the

I'm in good company!! :) How nice to find your site - been a Jan Fan since the first episode of WKRP and have
searched for WEB sites for years. All I ever got before was Mr. Smithers from the
Simpsons. Thank you so much for honoring one of TV's most beautiful women!!! I too, saw that Mike Douglas show with Jan getting the full makeover. I'm surprised
anyone else remembers it. Jan certainly did look stunning. However, I'm not sure Jan
Smithers was the best person to use to show what a makeover can do to improve a woman's
looks. Jan was and probably still is stunningly beautiful even BEFORE a makeover. Those
closeups of Jan's face during that show is something I'll never forget.
I discovered "WKRP" about 3 days ago when I happened to flip on Nick at Nite
in a hotel. I watched 3 episodes before my parents made me go to bed. Friday, I was up
until 1:00 (I could have stayed a lot longer!!) watching 8 episodes. What a great show!! I
agree with you completely, about Jan. I liked her acting and character so much better than
Loni Anderson's. I mean, how could anyone actually like that hair of hers? (It's sooo
fake!!) Let me add. . . (as I think where those photos (negs too) are. The
"celebrity" of Loni who played a floozy and golddigger, shows the superficiality
of the media. / and wasn't Jan on the new Love Boat this week?
Reading the page everything I would think of or even have has already turned up. . .
BUT here' s a new one for all of you. I once saw a Mike Douglas show late one afternoon
with Jan getting a full glamor makeover, live, with tight closeups. Absolutely gorgeous.
And if I can find the photo I took off the screen I'll scan it and send it in. (That's not
a tease). Anyone else see that show? Talk about drooling. . . They don't make sitcoms like WKRP anymore!!!!!!

in that jewlery robbery episode. pants! I first found your web site about a year ago and was thrilled that someone had felt
strongly enough about Jan Smithers to devote a web page to her. I thought I was the only
one who secretly had a crush on her twenty years ago. There has been much said about Jan's
amazing natural beauty, but I think that Jan's outer beauty only enhances the inner beauty
that so often shows itself in her portrayal as Bailey Quarters. I think what so many
people have fallen in love with about Bailey, aside from her great looks, is probably the
essence of the woman who portrays her. No matter how many years go by, that kind of beauty
will never fade. I'm glad to hear, if your information about her current lifestyle is
accurate, that Jan is living a happy, quiet life away from the hustle and bustle of show
business. I am extremely happy for her. She seems to have wisely arranged her priorities
in life. Watching the WKRP marathon on Nick at Nite enticed me to do a search on Jan
Smithers. Need I say more. I think not after finding this web page. I am obviously not

Loni. Like so many of you, I always thought Jan was drop dead gorgeous. I remember once
seeing the cast of WKRP on an afternoon talk show, Dick Cavett or something like that.
Loni Anderson was co-hosting that week. When Loni was introducing the cast, and she came
to Jan, she stated something to the effect "Jan is the really beautiful one on the
show". She wasn't wrong there. I hope Jan sees the webpage someday and takes some
small pleasure in the knowledge so many of us fell in love with her. Beauty, is an elusive commodity. Loni surely had her attributes, which most men
could not get their eyes away form. Jan had an inner glow which radiated her internal

I recently got a Bailey thread going on one of the lists I'm on. It's really great
to see there's a page dedicated to her. I was absolutely smitten by her 20 years ago, and
time and age haven't changed that at all. I don't know if you noticed it, but the Thanks for the memories Jan. May you always remain beautiful inside and outside. Great site. Jan, it's amazing how many people are thinking just as I am after watcfhing the nick
marathon. I was only 5yrs old when WKRP went off the air, and I never watched it(besides
reruns on abc a few years back) but I have watched the marathon(what can I say I love the
shows on Nick at Nite) and Jan/Bailey is def my fave charactar. She has this strong, quite
sense of pride and this inner strength. I see myself in her, becaue i'm quiet but i'm not
a wimp, and if I want something or belive in somethign I work for it and stand up for
myself. Jennifer just seems to foreward in her passions and demeanor. Loved the answer to "When does the millennium actually start?" Let's
party-hearty Dec. 31/99 and ignore all those who want to party Dec. 31/00 when the alcohol

N@N must be sending out subliminal messages to look up info on Jan Smithers. Liked both
Jennifer and Bailey on the show, but have had a "thing" for smart red-heads ever
since seeing Bailey. Surprised me that the only web page devoted to Jan Smithers was
yours, but with N@N running one of the best TV shows ever, maybe there'll be more. Great
job. I grew up watching WKRP, loving every minute of it. I never could decide who I loved
more: Johnny Fever or Bailey Quarters. (I know you were asking about Jennifer versus
Bailey, and I gotta go with Bailey, though Jennifer, in watching the reruns on Nick at
Night, may be "scary", but she's nothing but kind, sensitive and caring to those
around her. A good women. But still not as hot as Bailey!) Anyway, WKRP is INCREDIBLE, and
